Recent Rescue Cases

Each year, we have seen the volume of farm animal cruelty cases reported, and the need for emergency rescues grow dramatically. SPCAs, humane societies and animal control agencies throughout the country are increasingly requesting our assistance with farm animal abuse cases and placement of rescued animals. As public awareness about farm animal cruelty increases, we are receiving more and more calls each year.

A crucial component of humane enforcement work is the ability to seize and shelter abused and abandoned farm animals during cruelty investigations and prosecution efforts. Unless a shelter facility is available for the abused animals, local law enforcement agencies are often unable to confiscate the animals. Unfortunately, the lack of a shelter facility has often been used as a reason to fail to take action; or, if farm animals are confiscated, they are sent to slaughterhouses or livestock markets.

Donations to the EMERGENCY RESCUE FUND enable us to respond to suffering farm animals immediately when we receive cruelty reports. Animals left starving, dying, freezing, and alone can know that there are people who care in this world…people who will do whatever it takes to stop their pain and bring them to sanctuary. Farm animals are counting on us to be there in their time of need. We can’t do it without you. Your contribution to the EMERGENCY RESCUE FUND today is greatly appreciated, and will directly save lives and end suffering.

Support the most important farm animal protection bill in 30 years.

On Monday, January 23 the Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments of 2012 were introduced. These amendments, introduced to the senate as HR 3798, will help tens of millions of hens to have a bit more space almost immediately and will eventually eliminate battery cages for laying hens. Read more about this critical legislation and what you can do to help more than 250 million hens each year.
