Be A Part Of The Farm Sanctuary Team

Farm Sanctuary currently has a variety of staff positions in six departments. Salary levels in each department are based on previous work experience, job responsibilities and schedule requirements.

Department Overviews

Shelter Department - Farm Sanctuary operates two farm shelters (Watkins Glen, NY and Orland, CA) which provide loving homes for hundreds of rescued farm animals. Staff responsibilities may include barn cleaning, farm projects and maintenance, animal feeds and waters, or animal healthcare.

Education & Outreach Department - Farm Sanctuary's Education and Outreach programs in Watkins Glen, NY and Orland, CA include farm tours, conferences and events, farm bed & breakfast, Veg for Life program, and the volunteer internship program. Staff responsibilities may include giving farm tours, staffing gift store, assisting with farm bed & breakfast, coordinating farm events, overseeing volunteers, merchandise and literature requests, community outreach, and education projects.

Administrative Department - The Administrative Department provides support services for all other departments within the organization. Staff responsibilities are quite varied but include data entry, mail processing, bookkeeping, human resources, reception and phone duties, information requests, member correspondence, and general administrative projects.

Campaign Department - Farm Sanctuary's Campaign Department creates and carries out programs across the country which include lobbying for laws and regulations to protect farm animals, advocating for change in corporate policy and public perception toward farm animals, building broad coalitions of support, conducting grass roots and grass tops outreach, and mobilizing Farm Sanctuary members through the Advocacy Campaign Team. The Campaigns Department also coordinates the annual Walk for Farm Animals, logging countless miles in favor of farm animal protection. Staff responsibilities include working with members, activists, policy makers, businesses, and organizations to enlist support of Farm Sanctuary campaigns, tracking and lobbying legislation, conducting research, preparing reports and fact sheets, drafting action alerts, responding to activist inquiries, filing and organizing information, and numerous special campaign projects.

Communications Department - The Communications Department handles all media outreach and press release distribution, advertising, alert management, graphic and print design, photo and video production and editing, writing projects for print and web, web design and web marketing, and production of all Farm Sanctuary materials.

Development Department - The Development Staff is responsible for all fundraising efforts including grants, direct mail, and membership services, as well as special events and special donor programs.
